5 Caves of the Krasnoyarsk Region

If a caver has woken up in you, we suggest you conquering the most beautiful caves of the Krasnoyarsk region!  Below we’re telling, which ones have broken our hearts , and that is why we recommend you visiting them as well :)

► The Badjey Cave
It is situated in the Manskiy district of the Krasnoyarsk region, 4 km from the village of Stepnoy Badjey. It is famous for the spacious grottoes, a big underground lake and a brook – it is called Farforoviy (Porcelain). The total length of the cave is 6 kilometers and its depth is 170 meters. The speleologists especially like the 20-meters descent into the cave, and special equipment, of course.

► The Bolshaya Oreshnaya Cave
This is the largest conglomerate cave in the world, which is also situated in Manskiy district. The length of its passages is about 50 km (though no one knows the exact figures). In the cave there is a huge number of grottoes and passages, some of them have amazing names: Velikiy Katorzhniy Put’ (Penal Servitude Way), Rodnaya Shkola (Native School), Marazm (Insanity), Volch’ye Boloto (Wolves’ Swamp),  Galkina Gostinaya  (Jackdaw’s Living-room), Zamarashka (Slob), Bakhchisaray Canalization. Most of the passages and grottoes are joined into big systems, which can be passed without ropes and equipment.

► The Geneve Cave
One of the most beautiful caves in the Krasnoyarsk region, situated 18 rm from the bay of Shumikha. The length of its passages is 5 284 meters, and the depth is 60 meters.  It’s included into the system of 70 karst caves of the Biryussa’s lower reaches and the suburbs of the Biryussa Bay. In the Geneve cave there are constant glaciers, ice walls, underground lakes, calcite flowers, fluorescent walls, corallites, pagodas, curtains, stalactites, stalagmites and stalagnates.

► The Karaulnaya Cave
This is the most civilized and easily accessible variant for those who just begin their acquaintance with the underground world. It is situated 5 km from Krasnoyarsk, beyond the village of Udachniy. The total length of its passages is 540 meters. It works every day as a museum, no equipment is necessary. The excursions are held even for children from 3 years and above, but its necessary to get registered over telephone +7 (391) 205-13-01. ► The Belaya Cave
It is situated in Manskiy district, not far from the village of Stepnoy Badjei. It is famous for its rare dropstones, psented by mondmilch depositions, thanks to them the cave has got its name.
