Karaulnaya Cave in Krasnoyarsk
Karaulnaya Cave is one of the most popular attractions of the suburbs of Krasnoyarsk, which became famous in the early 60s of the twentieth century. The total length of the cave roads is more than 540 meters, and the lowest point of the cave - the Clay Hall - is located at the depth of 41 meters according to the level of the cave entrance. The cave has two floors, it begins with the Grotto Ice, in which there was pviously a glacier. Its fragments were pserved in the part farthest from the entrance, behind which there is a low hole leading to a gallery with sintered calcite covers. On the upper floor there is an elongated grotto Charm. On the walls there is "cave milk" - calcareous non-solidifying formations. In the Coral Hall of the cave there is a dazzling white huge stalagmite. It was called the Monomakh Hat due to its shape. On the lower floor of the cave, at a depth of about 30 m according to the cave entrance, Kapelny Grotto is located. Its dimensions are 20 by 40 m, the average height of the arches is about 3 m. In the middle of the hall is a small lake, in which in the 60-s of the XX century cave pearls were found. Drip Grotto cross two faults.
The cave is a natural monument and the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory has established the "Special Protection Mode" for it. Tour operator "Altamira" was called the conservation organization of this natural monument.
► Karaulnaya Cave is located on the left bank of the Yenisei River, on Mount Karaulnaya, 15 km above Krasnoyarsk, 4.5 km from the village of Udachny.
