The holy spring of the Tikhvin icon of the mother of God in the village of Verkhny Kuzhebar

The Karatuzsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory is famous for its many attractions, but one of them is special - this is the holy source of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God.

According to one legend, the local shepherd discovered the source of "living" water in the village of Verkhny Kuzhebar. He saw that in the creek not far from the pasture lay the icon of the Mother of God of Tikhvin. The shepherd took the icon home with him. After a while, it disappeared from the house and again ended up in a stream. Then the villagers decided that this source is extraordinary, and began to look after it - mow the grass, built a well, set up benches. But the icon was gone. And since then, every year on July 9 there is a procession and a liturgy with water lighting.

Local residents can tell you many stories about the miraculous healing of patients who were treated with water from a source. It is said in the village that the baptismal water is holy, and at the source it is living, and it, like the baptismal water, does not become turbid and does not deteriorate for a long time.
