The Kotuykan River Canyon
The Kotuykan is an unexplored river on Taimyr, the right inflow of the Kotuy. It is said, that for the whole history of the Earth there have been less people on the Kotuykan than on Everest! The river’s length is 447 km. Its main peculiarity is its canyon banks in the mouth of the Dyogdyo river, resembling ancient castles. Scientists say, in past instead of the lands of the Anabar Plateau, where the Kotuykan flows, there was a sea, that is why the local landscape is so fanciful. And independent explorers suggest that some time ago there was some ancient developed civilization, and all the rocks are megaliths. Nevertheless, the place is amazing, and it is undoubtedly worth visiting at least once a life!
● How to get there: in summer by plane to Khatanga, and then by helicopter and boat.
