The Evacuated Enterprises

During the first six months of the war the ammunition reserves were almost fully used up, 303 enterprises, producing shells, were ruined. That is why it was decided to evacuate urgently the equipment and specialists of 32 industrial enterprises  to the Krasnoyarsk region.

So, the Krasnoyarsk machine-building plant (avenue named after the Krasnoyarskiy Rabochiy newspaper, 29), which was the only one producing defense production  in the region – mines and bombs, – accepted the equipment of the evacuated plant #4 named after Voroshilov  in the middle of October 1941. After that Krasmash started manufacturing  anti-aircraft cannons, mortars, large air bombs and sea mines.

The Sityazhmash plant (Academic Pavlov st.,1),built on the base of the equipment evacuated from the plant Krasniy Profintern, situated near Bryansk, produced grenades F-1 and 50-mm mortars, and later the plant started building steam locomotives.

During the war years on the right bank of the Yenisey the Krasnoyarsk ship-building plant appeared (avenue named after the Krasnoyarskiy Rabochiy newspaper, 150). Using the equipment of the Tula aviation plant they started to manufacture details for the SB plane, and in 1943 even mastered producing catapult scout Be-4 (“flying boat”).

On the left bank on the basis of the distillery the equipment of the Zaporozhskiy combine plant Kommunar and special workshop of the Lyubertsy plant named after Ukhtomskiy was installed in 1943. The future Combine plant (its workshops were situated in Profsoyuzov st., 3) mainly produced such ammunition as – casings for 45-mm and 76-mm shells, 82-mm fragmentation and chemical mines.

On the territory of the paper mill, which was being built in Krasnoyarsk, the plant #9 evacuated from the Ukraine and producing pyroxylin powder, and chemical  mills # 100 and 101, as well as the hydrolyze plant #13, were located. The new enterprise got the number 580 and later it was known as the chemical mill Yenisey (26 Bakinskikh Komissarov st.,1). Here the shells for division cannons, howitzers, agitation mines, and flame arresters for 76-millimeter cannons were produced.
