If you’ve been lost in the forest
Don’t panic, if you are lost in the forest! Here are some tips, which will help you to find the way out:
1. Stay at your current place and listen to the sounds of nature. Perhaps, you will hear the sound of road or other sounds, which will help you to define the direction where to go.
2. If you have an opportunity, go along a river or a brook. They usually flow into some bigger water objects, and the latter ones can lead you to people.
3. Try to find a path or a road, which can lead you to some settlement. If there are animals’ footprints, follow them.
4. Look around and search for any signs of people’s life, for example, pillars, power lines or roads.
5. If you have a mobile phone, turn it on and try to catch a signal. If you succeed, call a rescue service and inform about your location.
6. If you don’t have a telephone, try to find dry ranches and leaves to make a fire. It will help you to attract the attention of rescuers and other people.
7. Remember your last actions and try to go back along the same way you have come here.
8. If the night has caught you in the forest, find a safe place for sleeping and get ready for possible cold. In the morning keep on looking for a way to civilization.
Don’t despair and be reasonable. Remember, you will certainly get help, if you follow these recommendations.
