Sculptures, alto-relievo and panels - women 's images in Krasnoyarsk streets

Woman has been a muse for the strong half of the humanity since ancient times. These are the women who lyrics, songs, pictures and sculptures are devoted to…On the eve of the International Women’s Day the Tourist Information Centre of Krasnoyarsk region  has remembered about women’s images in the city streets who inspired sculptors for creating wonderful pieces of art.     

► Monument to the street cleaner Petrovna in Soviet district

58-years old Nadezhda Petrovna Sidorova, who has worked as a street cleaner over 10 years became the inspiration for this sculpture, and the monument itself was set up over 10 years ago  at the eve of the 8th of March in 2010 in the micro district of Zelyonaya Roscha. The author of this unusual sculpture is Krasnoyarsk sculptor Andrey Kiyanitsyn who created Nadezhda Sidorova with a broom and a little dog near her legs. The hero of the sculpture likes the idea and its realization – she even jokes that she turned out to be younger and slimmer in bronze. You can find Petrovna monument in Soviet district in Voronov st., 39/1.

► Fountain Femida in the city centre

A fountain with a Greek goodness of justice is situated in the city centre in front of the building of the Regional Court in Mira avenue. As it should be, Femida is psented blindfolded to demonstrate that she treats everyone the same, she has scales, measuring guilt, in her one hand, and a punishing sword in the other one. A four-meter sculpture appeared in the city centre in 2004 and became a psent to the people of Krasnoyarsk for the 376th anniversary of the city. The authors of the fountain Femida are an architect Andrey Kasatkin and a sculptor Alexander Tkachuk.  

 

► Sculpture Terpsichore on the front of a block of flats in Godenko street

The muse of dancing Terpsichore appeared on one of the block of flats in 2016 on the of the building company Kultbytsrtoy – so the firm expssed their respect to the head ballet master of the Krasnoyarsk State Academic  Dance Company of Siberia named after Mikhail Godenko. This is his name that was given to the street where this building with one of nine muses is situated.  Zeus’s daughter and the patroness of dancing with a testudo in her hand can be found in Godenko st., 6.

► A wooden monument to Elena Krutovskaya in the national park Krasnoyarsk Stolby

 The monument to the first zoologist of the national park Krasnoyarsk Stolby   Elena Krutovskaya was set up in 2004 on her 90th anniversary. Elena devoted over 40 years of her life to Stolby. The development of this person, scientist and writer took place under particular conditions – in the circle of taiga and stolbism brotherhood. In 1939 the zoologist created a pets corner named Doctor Aybolit’s Shelter for birds and animals in the mire. Some of the pets of Elena Krutovskaya became cinema stars  and long-livers, and the shelter gave start to the Krasnoyarsk flora and fauna par Royev Ruchey You can find a monument of cedar by Sergey Fotkulan near the Narym cordon.

► Alto-relievo October on the Cinema House

The martial girl on the building of the Cinema House is one of the well-known sights of the city.  The alto-relievo (note – or high relief, is a variant of sculpture in which carved figures or other objects protrude from the surface of the background more than for a half of the depicted parts) named October appeared on the building of the cinema in 1977.  It depicts a revolutionary lady with a hammer and sickle in her hands, crushing a heraldic eagle which symbolizes the monarchic power. Behind her back  in the upper part of the composition there are raised rifles barrels and flames, psented on the background of a rising signature proletarian revolution. The authors of the project are sculptors Yuriy Ishkhanov and Alexander Davydov  and architect Eduard Panov.  

► Mosaic panel Motherland on the front of the building of Rodina

On the 1st of May 1960 in Krasnoyarskiy Rabochiy street the first cinema in Krasnoyarsk named Rodina was opened. The building attracted attention with its large mosaic  panel created by the artist Evgeniy Kobytev. A woman with a child in her arms with Stolby behind her, showing Motherland spading ahead to the child, is depicted on the panel. If you stare attentively, you’ll see the word Freedom made of small stones on it.  The signature copies the picture made with paints on one of the Stolby rocks. It is considered that in this picture the artist depicted his wife and daughter. The artist himself and his students specially selected the Yenisey river stones for this mosaic.

► The Abduction of Europe Fountain in Predmostnaya square

At the right bank of Krasnoyarsk a fountain inspired by a Greek myth The Abduction of Europe, is situated. It was set up in 2003. The authors of this work Alexander Tkachuk and Vitaliy Os’mushkin, architect Andrey Kastkin, were inspired with the love story of wonderful, a daughter of the Phoenician king, and mighty Zeus who stole the girl in the image of a bull and then went to Crete with her where they got married.  The fountain gave joy to the citizens and guests of the city first near Planet Krasnoyarsk building, and in autumn 2018 it was moved to a new place in front of the Arts Academy.
