Shushenskoe

The village of Shushenskoye was founded in 1744 and is now the administrative center of the Shushensky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, located in the south of the region. The population of the village is 17,142 people, and the area is 112.88 km². Shushenskoye is widely known due to Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov-Lenin, who was exiled to Siberia in 1897 for revolutionary activity.

In 1970, the center of the village with authentic historic wooden houses turned into the Siberian Exile of V.I. Lenin Museum, which became an obligatory part of the program of trips "through Leninist places." Today they come to the Shushenskoye Museum-Reserve to look at the historically pserved part of the Siberian village, to look inside the houses built at the end of the 19th century, to get acquainted with the main occupations of the peasants.

What to see:

► The Shushenskoye Historical and Ethnographic Museum-Preserve is a Siberian village of the Russian Empire at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, and its history is inextricably linked with the name of V.I. Lenin. There are numerous monuments of wooden architecture located on 7 hectares, among which : peasant houses, a trading shop, a forge, prison and others.

► Shushenskiy Bor National Park is located in very beautiful places, among mountain and taiga landscapes, but besides nature, there are interesting artifacts and historical monuments on its territory: a primitive man’s site is located on the territory of the reserve.

► Mount Gladenkaya is a ski resort where you can go skiing or snowboarding. The length of the main route is 3500 meters, it is serviced by a lift. On the slope is a hotel complex.

► Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station is the largest hydroelectric power station in Russia, located near the village of Cheremushki, not far from Sayanogorsk. Inside the dam there is a museum. However, to visit it, you need to agree on the date and time of the tour in advance. On the territory there is a special observation deck from where a panorama of the station and the Yenisei opens.

 ► Sanatorium "Shushensky" - located on the banks of the mountain river Oia in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Here, nature itself has created ideal conditions for relaxation and treatment: pine forest, clean air, wildlife, hot sunny summers and mild winters contribute to the effectiveness of the treatment
