The route along the right bank of Krasnoyarsk
The right bank of the Yenisey is not only thick taiga forests and giant rocks of the Krasnoyarsk Stolby national park, mighty Torgashinskiy ridge, the noisy river Bazaikha and other nature’s locations. The right bank of the Yenisey is also about the atmosphere architecture of the Soviet period, great embankments and modernity, fitted organically into history. Below there is a route along the right bank of the city, thanks to it you’ll be able to feel the special colour of this place, get plunged into the past and, of course, enjoy the perfeсt.
► We suggest choosing the right bank embankment, which has got the name of the world known Krasnoyarsk wrestler Ivan Sergeevich Yarygin, as the first point of our route. Here, on the promenade stretched along the Yenisey, you can enjoy the calming effect of water, observe funny ducks, take a glass of your favourite drink in one of the coffee shops, make a photo with different art objects (we would advise you to visit the symbol of Krasnoyarsk The Lion on the Stone and Duality which reminds the hearts united in unison). Start your walk from the micro-district Beliye Rossy and go towards the Predmostnaya Square.
How to get there: to start your trip you need to get to the point between buildings 175 and 177 in Sudostroitelnaya street – right from here the route will start. If your way is by public transport, take bus 94 and go to the stop Gladkova, then move deeper to the yards to reach the above-mentioned point (about 600 meters).
► After walking along the embankment go to the Church of Nativity. The church is one of the biggest ones in the city and is situated in the industrial Kirovskiy district. The snow-white facades and the going up golden domes enchant with their image. Exactly in this place of the densely populated district you can feel special calmness, so we advise you not to miss this point of the route.
How to get there: the church is situated in Schorsa street, 44А – confidently download the address into your navigator in the car. If you go by public transport, you’ll need to take one of these buses: 3, 55, 56, 65, 90, 94 or trams 5 and 7 and walk a little on foot from the stop to the church (not more than five minutes).
► The next point is the art residence Kamenka. The modern loft project, organized in the ex Palace of Culture, took all the best of the two epochs – wonderful architecture of the past and unusual creative ideas of the creators of the psent times. Here you can buy unique things made by the local designers and residents of Kamenka, visit one of the exhibitions of contemporary art or photography, take cool photos with the ceiling with stucco at the background, luxurious lantern and mighty columns, and then walk in the park. How to get there: from the Church of Nativity you need to go in the direction of Gastello street and walk about 700 meters to Pavlov street, 21.
► Then our route leads to the unusual cat, hooked to one of the windows of the house in Vavilov street. Of course, the cat is not real, but it isn't less interesting because of it. The place, that has been chosen for the art object, is deserves special attention. Each guest of this place can estimate the architecture of this building, including the round window in the wooden frame that the cat is holding for.
How to get there: choose a trip from Kamenka to Vavilov street, 33 by car, public transport or on foot. You can get a convenient route in one of the on-line maps.
► Afterwards we suggest you going to the Enthusiasts Park near one of the river piers. Here you will find a small walking area, swings, comfortable benches, which are illuminated with the bright northern lights in the evening, and of course, the Yenisey - you can stare at its flowing approximately forever. By the way, on the upper floor of the pier you can see a silver weather vane, which starts moving like a clock mechanism even at the smallest blowing of the wind. One can forget everything on the Earth, if not to turn away from this hypnotic action in time :) Here is the Nikolskiy temple - the monument to the victims of political repssion – do pay attention to this place.
How to get there: follow to the bus stop Torgoviy Tsentr (the walk to the art object The Hooked Cat will take you about 10-15 minutes on foot, and 5 minutes by car). Then go along the trading centre Krasnoyar’ye to the Enthusiasts Park.
► The next point is the embankment named after Kh.M. Sovmen, and we suggest going towards it walking along the avenue named after the Krasnoyarskiy Rabochiy newspaper, which is called Krasrab by the locals. One of the main arteries of the city’s right bank enchants with its multi-colour houses of Stalin’s epoch and other remarkable buildings. So, for example, here you can see the first Krasnoyarsk cinema Rodina (at psent it is the House of Peoples’ Frienedship) with the pserved mosaic panel of 1960 created by the artist Evgeniy Kobytev. A woman with a child in her arms with Stolby at the background is depicted on the panel; she is showing him the Motherland spading ahead. If to look attentively at the mosaic, you can see the word Freedom, made of small stones. The signature copies the picture, made with paint on one of the rocks of Stolby. The first Siberian booster rocket Kosmos near Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology also attracts everyone’s attention.
How to get there: from the Enthusiasts Park go back to the trading centre Krasnoyar’ye and move to the right (if you’re standing looking at the trading centre) along Krasnoyarskiy Rabochiy avenue.
► And our final point is the embankment named after Kh.M. Sovmen. The place can be rightly called the calm harbour, as you won’t see many people here either on week days or days-off. But believe, it is worth coming here. From the upper floor of the embankment a wonderful view of the left-bank centre and small islands in the Yenisey is opened, and on the lower floor you can feed ducks and meditate staring at the blue waters of the river from the observing ground looking like a Cossacks’ boat. This is a wonderful place to finish the exploring the right-bank part of Krasnoyarsk.
How to get there: go to the bus stop DK Pervoye Maya along Krasnoyarskiy Rabochiy avenue, and then orienteering with the help of on-line maps turn to Sportivniy road to the Pervoye Maya Park, after which the embankment of Kh.M. Sovmen begins.
