Check-list: a travel first aid kit

If you are going to make a long trip, for example, in Ergaki, do provide some space for a first aid kit in your backpack, since in the wild places you will have to cope with emergency situations yourself. Here is the list of what you might need:

● medicines you need to take constantly;
● insect repellents: a spray or a cream, protecting of mosquitos and ticks;
● dressing materials: bandage, patches, sterile dressings;
● external antiseptics: iodine, brilliant green, hydrogen peroxide or chlorhexidine to treat the wound;
● skin products: ointments for bruises, sprays from burns, cream from joints pain, sunscreen;
● analgesic;
● antipyretic;
● cough medicine;
● spray from the common cold;
● antibiotic pills – in extreme cases, if you have no opportunity to go back to the city quickly and visit a doctor:
● remedies for allergies – they are necessary in any trip, even you have never had any allergy before, take those which do not cause drownsiness;
● medications for diarrhea and intestinal infections;
● sedatives and heart remedies, if you plan an extreme trip;
● other: ammonia, scissors, tweezer, eyedropper, you may also need a tourniquet  to stop the blood.

And three other tips:

√ Get rid of boxes. Attach the instructions for medicines to each blister or a bottle with a rubber band. Don’t forget to check up the expiry date of the medicines.

√ Give pference to the medicines which you have already used before. This will help you to avoid possible side effects.

√ It is important to have a hermetic first aid kit – no water drop must get inside it!

We do hope, that you will never need all this! Be healthy and take care of yourself!
